Mikayla’s Teddy Bear Ministry was started by one of our children here at SAUMC with the help of her family. Mikayla spent time in the hospital and wanted to find a way to help others who found themselves in difficult situations. This ministry in Mikayla's memory collects teddy bears (and plushies) that sit on the back pew of the sanctuary listening to sermons, hymns & prayers and being filled with God's love. A tag explaining Mikayla’s ministry is attached to each bear, and anyone is welcome to take a bear at any time and gift it to someone who needs it. This ministry spreads God's love into the world in a special way. May Kay Schrock is our 2026 coordinator for Mikayla’s Teddy Bear Ministry and she is challenging us to donate 100 teddy bears (or plushies) by Valentine’s Day! Please place your donations of NEW teddy bears and plushies in the Mikayla’s Teddy Bear Ministry bin in the Gathering Place.
Mikayla's Teddy Bear Ministry bears & plushes have been given to children and adults who have lost their homes in disasters, been in the hospital, struggled during COVID, and many other difficult situations. We regularly distribute plushies during our monthly Bingo night at the Alzheimer's Unit at Fayetteville Manor and will distribute plushies during our next Food Distribution in February.
