Older Adults
Our role is to identify the needs of older adults in our church and community. We encourage older adults to serve the church in some capacity.
We are divided into two groups.
The XYZ (eXtra Years of Zest) meets once a month for lunch. We catch up with what’s happening in our lives and minister to those who are in need. XYZ meets for lunch on the second Wednesday of each month. Contact Pat Owen (488-6675)
The S.A.L.T. (Senior Adults Loving Together) Shakers has several ministries. The main ministry is the Pine Top Rest Home. We provide the residents an Easter party in April and a Christmas party in November. Gifts are given to all the residents. During the year we send cards, flowers and clothing. The S.A.L.T. Shakers meet in the Chapel on the first Thursday of each month at 10:30am. Contact Pat Owen (488-6675)
Other services to our church and community include preparing a meal for the HomeFires ministry and most of our group belongs to the St. Andrews Volunteer Singers. This group goes once a month to sing and visit with the residents at Highland House Nursing Home. Contact Pat Owen (488-6675)
We also minister to each other by taking trips. We enjoy annual excursions to the Farmers Market or shopping at the Smithfield Outlets. We also enjoy touring the old churches in Wilmington and going to plays. The time spent together is a ministry in itself.
The Older Adult Ministry is open to all seniors in the church or community. You are welcome here. |
